about

Soundtrack for the game Ruins of Calaworm, currently in development by @erdbeerscherge twitter.com/erdbeerscherge
The music for this game had to reflect both the medieval, Cthulhu-esque & steampunk aspects of the setting, as well as the cute 16-bit aesthetic of the visuals, and the more comical aspects of the gameplay. To do this, I eventually settled on combining NES synths with real instruments. I made use of the tb_peach, and Super Audio Cart, as well as various real life sample libraries, and a real viola player. Many unusual instrumental combinations were used, reflecting the sometimes surreal nature of the game. Bassoon, harpsichord, prepared piano, trumpet, renaissance recorders, drumkit, crumhorns and more...
